Culture
Todos Santos is a unique place, one of the few in Guatemala that has retained its traditional culture in language, dress, and local customs. Todos Santos is a traditional Maya Mam town that values its culture, rich history, and traditions. This respect is demonstrated most in the periods of celebration, or feria; Easter week and the week of November 1. The celebrations show the incorporations of the different religions, mainly Catholic, Evangelical, and the traditional Mam religion. This integration of religion allows for different perspectives. Despite religious differences, the culture is a uniting factor. For example, all of the Todossanteros use the traditional dress, or traje, which are hand and loom woven pieces of art. Due to the strength of the culture the primary language in Todos Santos is Mam, but almost all of the inhabitants are fluent in Spanish as well.
